FAQ
Körperformen EMS FAQ
Why are the training sessions so short?
During training, all muscle groups are stimulated at the same time. Contraction and relaxation times of the entire musculature follow at intervals of several seconds.
The contraction of the muscles is many times stronger than with conventional muscle training. Therefore, the training effect is much more effective and a 20-minute workout about once a week is completely sufficient to achieve significant success after a short time!
Who is the training suitable for?
The training is suitable for men and women of all ages.
miha bodytec offers special advantages for:
Professionals with little time for fitness training
Non-athletes who want to increase their performance quickly
Athletes and top athletes who want to optimise their performance in a targeted manner
Obese people who want to lose body fat naturally and shape their body
Is there a reliable EMS test?
We do not want to leave the question of an EMS test unanswered. In the following we would like to convey to you how solid the knowledge about EMS really is.
Electromuscular stimulation training has been studied and documented over long periods of time.
A summary of the reliable results can be found here. Is there a reliable EMS test that has put the concept of electronic muscle stimulation through its paces, i.e. for effectiveness and side effects? Yes, there is. Many times over. Various universities and clinics with a focus on sports and medicine, both in Germany and abroad are an important source of information. Under the following link you will find 5 EMS test studies from the past few years: http://www.miha-bodytec.de/miha/studien/studien.html
EMS test summarised:
EMS Test: Study by the German Sport University Cologne
“The study was able to show that dynamic EMS training can lead to an improvement in maximum strength and the performance of the target muscles, and therefore represents a promising method and an alternative to classic methods for training practice”.
EMS Test: Study by the Institute for Sports Science at the University of Bayreuth
“Training with EMS is a very effective way of fighting back pain, a widespread disease, as well as urinary incontinence symptoms, which are often taboo in society.”
EMS Test: Institute for Medical Physics, Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen Nuremberg
“The most important result of this controlled, randomised intervention study was the significant effect on abdominal fat mass, total body fat mass and appendicular skeletal muscle mass […]”.
All the studies we know about an EMS test also show that training with electromuscular stimulation does not have any noticeable side effects. Of course, it is sensible to be sceptical about such an external effect of electricity on your body – should you therefore have further questions about an EMS test, or should you want to do a personal EMS test in our EMS health studio, we are at your disposal.

What is “electromuscular stimulation”?
Electromuscular stimulation – movement “against” your will!
The knowledge regarding electromuscular stimulation has been used in the medical field for years. In rehabilitation or in the reconstruction of atrophied muscles, electronic muscle simulation has become indispensable thanks to its great success. Körperformen also uses electronic muscle stimulation in a highly developed fitness concept. But what’s behind it?
To understand how electromuscular stimulation works, one must first understand how “movement” works. Take the following example: If you want to pick up something with your hand, you have to convert this wish into an impulse, which is then transmitted from the brain via nerve cells to your arm, your hand and your fingertips. Nothing happens without this impulse, since your nerves are not given a “task”. A nerve cell works like a power cable: The impulse goes in at one end of the cell, out at the other and “jumps” over to the next nerve cell, which in turn transmits the impulse. Then, when you close your hand around an object, the information “Close hands, pick up” has arrived at the bottom of the fingers. And in fact: The impulse that the nerve cell transmits is a weak electronic charge. Even cells that have to get by without brain impulses, for example due to paraplegia, can use artificial current impulses, such as electromuscular stimulation, to set muscles in motion.
Medicine has been making use of this knowledge for years, for example in medical rehabilitation or in the reconstruction of atrophied (i.e. receding) muscles. In the meantime, the wellness and fitness market is also making use of this knowledge, and Körperformen is also using electronic muscle stimulation in a highly developed fitness concept. The current impulses are directed to the desired muscle groups via a suit that has been specially developed for training with electrostimulation. Without detours, directly! Electromuscular stimulation uses the general conductivity of the nerve cells, which is independent of one’s own will, in order to achieve contraction and relaxation in the desired muscle groups with artificial current stimuli. And that is exactly what electromuscular stimulation is. Take advantage of our offers for a relaxed way to more physical fitness and health.

Is it possible to build muscle without training?
In general the following applies: If you do not move, you lose muscle. Muscle building without training is therefore theoretically not possible, because muscle mass needs to be moved and used. The body is not designed to provide a lot of energy for things that are not used or needed. And such a muscle eats up energy – which is why, the more you have, it makes you so slim. But if you don’t train the “energy guzzlers” in our body, it breaks them down. A body also wants to economise, it is particularly good at saving the thermal energy produced by muscles. Over time it will trade muscle for fat, because fat is a good cushion against cold and costs the body little work and effort.
In practice, is it possible to build muscle without training?
YES – in practice it is possible to build muscle without training. The only thing that matters is the definition of the term “training”. The electromuscular stimulation, which we offer you at Körperformen, takes place within short training sessions. However, you do not have to be physically fit, young, strong or have particularly endurance for this. Despite the short time and low physical effort, you can use EMS to shape your body, build muscles and do something good for your health. Thanks to EMS, you do not have to exert yourself physically to achieve an effect. With exercises that are individually tailored to you, simple, short and always accompanied by a trainer, you can build muscle without training: Successfully!

How does the EMS device work?
In the following, you will learn how the EMS device energises you: For decades, various stimulation current devices have been advertised for increasing physical fitness, losing weight or for an attractive six-pack: Are such devices equivalent to an EMS device?
No, the EMS device is clearly different from conventional electrical stimulation devices! The functionality and principle of the other technologies are the same, they are all based on the fact that our muscles conduct electricity to transport information or impulses from A to B, but unlike other devices, the EMS device works more precisely and holistically.
Based on a decision of the Medical Advisory Committee, the use of the EMS device has found general acceptance in medicine and sport since the 1972 Olympic Games. The EMS device has since been incorporated into the everyday exercises and workouts of athletes, fitness trainers, therapists and many more around the world to support training effects. By means of the targeted placement of electrodes, perhaps known from the measurement of heart currents on the ECG, which are applied to the main muscle groups (skin contact is completely sufficient here, as the skin nerve cells also transmit current impulses), the current impulses, which can be adjusted in their strength and frequency of the stimulus sequence, can be conducted directly to the muscle. This reacts immediately with an intense contraction, over 90% of the muscle fibres contract. After the impulse is “off”, the muscle relaxes again. The EMS device briefly energises the muscles at recurring intervals, which is stronger than the body’s own effect, but too weak to be dangerous.
The EMS device from Körperformen, integrated into a functional vest, works with the muscle groups of your whole body, unlike devices that are only designed for the abdominal muscles, for example. Perhaps you are also familiar with the TENS device from medicine, an electrical muscle stimulation device that is often prescribed for back pain and also works with electrodes and adjustable current levels. The EMS device does the same work for you, only highly efficiently, precisely and comprehensively. If you use the EMS device to support your training, you can pack up the TENS and similar devices – it has been proven that classic back problems decrease by themselves with targeted EMS training!

What is special about miha bodytec and why does Körperformen work with miha bodytec?
miha bodytec is the name of the multifunctional training device that is used by Körperformen and many other service providers in the fields of therapy, fitness and wellness.
What is special about the miha bodytec compared to other devices?
The special thing about miha bodytec is its versatility compared to other devices that work with current pulses. With miha bodytec it is possible for us at Körperformen to “tailor” an individual training for our customers. All personal values that are relevant for successful training flow into the training programming. Age, weight, gender, physical fitness and much more can be recorded with this device and used in our training.
miha bodytec is dedicated to effectiveness
The miha bodytec addresses entire muscle groups at the same time and even more effectively than conventional devices. While only one or two plus and minus poles are used for muscle stimulation in regular physiotherapy, the miha bodytec device can address up to 10 pairs of electrodes at the same time. The special thing here is in the detail: Thanks to miha bodytec, each pair of electrodes can be regulated separately! The device with its different program variants enables us at Körperformen to dose the load individually according to the current performance of our customers. We can adjust these at any time, there are simply days when your basic physical condition is different than usual. With miha bodytec we can therefore take your normal fluctuations in physical fitness and resilience into account and incorporate initial training successes into further training (e.g. greater muscle strength).
